Terms of Use

Effective and last updated: October 16, 2026

The short version

  • You may install and play our games for your own enjoyment.
  • Each game is free, or costs one payment that you make once. There are no subscriptions, recurring charges or hidden costs.
  • Purchases and refunds are handled by the app store you bought from, under its policies.
  • The games are provided as they are. We work hard to make them reliable, but we can't promise they'll be perfect.

1. Agreement

These terms are between you and Ethical Games ("we", "us"). They cover the Ethical Games apps (Ethical Solitaire, Ethical FreeCell, Ethical Spider, Ethical TriPeaks, Ethical Pyramid, Ethical Golf, Ethical Mahjong and any later Ethical game) and the website at ethicalgames.app. By installing or using an app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the apps.

The terms and policies of the app store you get an app from (such as Google Play) also apply. If these terms conflict with the store's terms on a matter the store controls, such as payments and refunds, the store's terms win.

2. Your license to play

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use each app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. A paid app works on every device signed in to the account you bought it with, as the app store allows.

You agree not to:

We're not trying to restrict normal use. Playing, sharing a screenshot, or showing a friend how to play are all fine.

3. Price and purchases

Each game is either free or costs a single one-time payment, made either before you download or as one in-app purchase. That payment is the whole cost: it's not a subscription, it never renews, and there's nothing else to buy. We don't sell coins, energy, hints, undos, shuffles or ad removal, and our apps contain no ads. Help such as hints and undo is unlimited and free.

The app store shows the price, including any taxes, before you buy, and processes the payment. Once you've paid for a game, we won't charge you for it again or take away what you bought. If we ever stop offering an app, we'll do our best to make sure people who paid can keep playing the version they have.

4. Refunds

Refunds, cancellations and other payment matters are governed by the policies of the app store you bought the game from. For Google Play, see Google Play's refund policy, or request a refund through Google Play. If you have a question about a game you bought, you're welcome to email [email protected].

5. Updates and availability

We may release updates that fix problems, add features or improve accessibility. Updates follow the same promises as the original app: we won't add ads, tracking, timers, or paid hints or undos. Deal numbers stay the same between versions, so deal #42 is always the same deal.

We may change or stop offering an app or this website. Apps already on your device keep working, because they don't depend on any service of ours.

6. Ownership

The rules of classic games such as Klondike, FreeCell and Mahjong solitaire belong to everyone. Our apps' code, art, looks, text and names are original work made for Ethical Games and protected by copyright and other laws. These terms don't give you ownership of them.

Our programmers and artists may use AI tools responsibly to help write code and create art and other assets. People decide what goes into each game, and review, test and take responsibility for everything we release. We never use AI to copy other games' code, art or designs, and since our apps collect nothing, none of your data is ever used to train AI. The apps themselves don't connect to any AI service.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve our games without owing you anything, but we'll never publish your name or message without asking first.

7. Privacy

Our apps collect no personal data. Our Privacy Policy explains this, and what little we hold if you email us.

8. No warranty

We test our games carefully, including on real phones, before each release. Even so, the apps and this website are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that the apps will be free of errors, or that a saved game can never be lost.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Ethical Games won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the apps or this website. Our total liability for any claim about an app is limited to the amount you paid us for that app in the 12 months before the claim, or US $10 if you paid nothing.

10. Your rights as a consumer

Some places don't allow certain warranty exclusions or limits on liability. Where that's true, the limits above apply only as far as the law allows. Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have as a consumer that the law says can't be waived, including any right to a refund under local consumer law.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you live outside the United States, you may also have the protection of mandatory consumer laws where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts.

If you have a problem, please email us first. Most problems can be solved quickly that way.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. Changes won't apply to purchases made before the change in a way that takes away something you paid for. If you keep using the apps after a change, you accept the updated terms.

If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
